A group called The Ashanti Youth Caucus has made a passionate appealed to Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II, the Queen mother of Ashanti, to woo John Dramani Mahama to choose Dr Kwabena Dufour as his running mate.

Mr. Mahama is the Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while Dr. Dufour has served as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana as well as a Finance Minister under the Rawlings and late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills regimes respectively.

However, with the fast approaching 2024 general elections, a decision ought to be made who Mr. Mahama’s running mate would be.

This, the pressure group has seized the opportunity to seek the support of the Ashanti Queen mother to compel Mr. Mahatma to settle on the former governor chosen.

The group led by their chairman, Frank Basoah, visited the Ashanti queen mother at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi yesterday, to win her support.

Dufour is the only person they can bet their last coin on as somebody who has been tried and tested in every portfolio of both public and private life.

the group are ever ready to pull every resources available to them as well as their physical strength to campaign vigorously for the NDC to wins the general elections only if Dr Dufour is chosen.

Mr. Basoah informed the queen that Dr Dufour is among some of the potential names out in the public.

They were particular about Dr. Dufour because he stands tall and exceptional among them.

According to him, the Ashanti region plays a vital role in the NDC winning every general elections in the country, by contributing over 27% of its total votes.

He added that the NDC is yet to choose a running mate however, the party stands a better to win the 2024 presidential election should it consider a running mate from the Ashanti region.

Mr. Bosoah stated that the group are ever ready to pull every resources available to them as well as their physical strength to campaign vigorously for the NDC to wins the general elections only if Dr Dufour is chosen.

It was his position that among all the competing names, Dr. Dufour is the only person they can bet their last coin on as somebody who has been tried and tested in every portfolio of both public and private life.

The group also presented assorted drinks and mineral water to the queen mother, to wish her a happy new year.
