Another witness vindicates COCOBOD’s purchase of Lithovit Liquid Fertiliser
Another farmer has testified to vindicate the Ghana Cocoa Board’s (COCOBOD) purchase of Lithivit Liquid Fertiliser for farmers under Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni.
Thomas Amoh Amankwah, a third defense witness (DW3) in the trial of Dr. Opuni – a former Chief Executive of COCOBOD – and businessman Seidu Agongo and his company, Agricult Ghana Limited, said the supply of Lithovith Liquid Fertiliser by the Board was a game-changer for many who used the agrochemical on their crops.
DW3 indicated that he has been a cocoa farmer for well over two decades and owns four different cocoa farms – 15.9 acres and 14 acres in the Ashanti region, 13.6 acres in Bono, and 21 acres at Yaakrom in the Dorma West District.
He told an Accra Criminal High Court presided over by Justice Clemence Honyenuga on Wednesday that Lithovit Liquid Fertilizer is the most effective agrochemical ever used on his farms, and the evidence is available in a passbook, which every cocoa farmer owns.
Mr. Amankwah said the passbook contains records of all cocoa beans harvested and sold by a cocoa farmer and other details, including the total amount received for the cocoa beans purchased by the Licensed Buying Company on behalf of COCOBOD.
