Another accused granted bail in aunty Ceci’s US$1M theft case

The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Mrs Afia Owusuaa Appiah, has granted Job Pomary, sixth accused (A6), in the theft case of Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

He was granted bail in the sum of GH¢300,000.00 with two sureties to be justified and should be within the jurisdiction of the court.

The accused was further ordered to deposit his passport with the registry of the court and report everything in fourth month to the police.

Pomary was granted bail upon an application by his lawyer, Adam Abdul Baasit to the court to consider the charge, dishonestly receiving, preferred against his client.A6 has pleaded not guilty to the charge on his first appearance on August 8, 2023.

A6 is line of accusation with Patience Botwe (A1), Sarah Agyei (A2), Benjamin Sowah (A3), Malik Dauda (A4), Christina Achab (A5), Yayaha Sumalia (A7) and Franklin Sarakpo (A8) but at large.

They have been charged with stealing the former minister of sanitation various amounts of money including US$1 million, €300,000, and GH¢350,000.

The other six accused have also pleased not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime, stealing and dishonestly receiving.

Pomary becomes the third person to be granted bail by the court, after Sarah and Christina. Nevertheless, Sarah and Christina have not been able to meet their GH¢1 million bail bond.

Assistant State Attorney (ASA) Akosua Agyaponmaa Agyemang prayed the court to the prosecution two weeks to complete their investigations.The court has adjourned the case to September 5.
