Patricia Asiedua, alias Mama Pat aka Nana Agradaa, bail bond had been reviewed down by the trial court presided over by His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah.

The bail was reviewed from ¢500,000 to ¢100,000 but the number of sureties have been increased from three to five.

However, under the new bail terms, the court ordered that the sureties should be Ghanaians who have a fixed place of abode and a fixed place of doing business within the jurisdiction of the court.

Nana Agradaa who shortly after converting from traditional belief to Christianity established a church, Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, was further ordered by the court to report to the police station twice every week – Wednesdays and Fridays.

The variation of the bail bond follows an application by Nana Agradaa’s defence counsel, Paul Assibi Abariga, that the prosecution was deliberately delaying the execution of the bail process.

He based his argument on the grounds that the embattled self-acclaimed Evangelist had been in the police custody nearly a month, without any hope insight that should will be released on bail.

Although the court held his prayer, he was still apprehensive with currently bail conditions, especially the five sureties must have a fixed place of doing business within the jurisdiction of the court.

He urged the court to do something about it but that request was vehemently denied and the case was adjourned to November 23, 2022.

The accused was first brought before the court on October 10, 2022, on seven charges of defrauding false pretences. She, however, pleaded not guilty to all.

Prosecution’s case

The prosecuting officer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvester Asare denied the allegation by the counsel, saying it is baseless.

He said the police said police cannot be blamed for Nana Agradaa’s continuous staying in lawful custody.

According to him, the accused’s family members were to be blamed, as it took them almost two to submit documents of the former bail condition, which required that the sureties should be civil servants earning not less than ¢2,000.00.
