The journey to discover the true fact of the alleged murder of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Chairman, Adam Mahama had become murky, as key witnesses in the case give conflicting evidences.

Thus, the fifth Prosecution Witness (PW5) in the trial, Zuwera Issaka during her evidence and cross-examination today told the court that the deceased at no material time – whether at his house or while being transported to the hospital- mentioned the names of Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangdi.

Meanwhile, the court presided over by Justice Mrs Merlyn Wood had earlier been told by Asigiri Quinn (PW2) that the deceased actually mentioned the accused persons, as the ones responsible for his predicament when he was been sent to the hospital.

Mr Quinn was also emphatic that the deceased mentioned the accused persons – Gregory and Asanke – in between Qurannic verse recitals.

However, Madam Zuwera said she never heard Adam Mahama mentioning names but the only thing he kept saying was “I will die”, which she urged him not to say that, after which they both  begun to say a particular Muslim prayer.

When asked by lawyer for Asanke, Mr Andrews Vortia, would she be so much annoyed to note that in between the prayers, Quinn had told the court the deceased was mentioning the names of Gregory Afoko and Asabke.

Madam Zuwera, who was sitting with the deceased at the back seat of a car been driven by Mr Quinn, said “I did hear their names as a result of the prayer.”

She even said there was no conversation in between the prayers.

Although Madam Zuwera said when she got to the scene Adam Mahama was wailing and rolling on the ground naked, Mr Quinn on the other hand, also indicated to the court that when he got to the scene, he met PW5 and one Thomas Addo Zutah already there, while the deceased was moving up and down wailing.

At the hospital, Madam Zuwera said the deceased gave her his phone to call one Tofic (PW1), which she could not place the call at that instance.

She went on to state that when they finally got to the hospital, Adam Mahama managed to come out of the car but he was naked she used the cloth to tie around him.

Madam Zuwera added that because Adam Mahama was weak he leaned against the car “and I start shouting for help. And because of the time, there were only were two gentlemen standing by. They ask me why and I told them, I don’t know.

“The two gentlemen then brought a wheel chair and positioned it very close to the car and Adam Mahama managed to sit in the wheel chair.  The gentlemen then pushed Adam Mahama to the hospital.  While at it, Adam Mahama said in Hausa language that tell them that Afoko’s child, the Rasta man, Gregory and Asabke poured acid on me.”

She added that after the doctors and nurses had attended to Adam Mahama, he lifted himself up a bit and vomited.

PW5 further stated that the patient called her to his side and whispered into her ears that Gregory and Asabke poured the acid on him, adding he also requested to speak with his wife.

PW5 said after these interactions, Adam Mahama openly mentioned the names of those who poured the acid on him to the hearing everyone there.

PW5 added that shortly after this event, the doctors and nurses took him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Mr Quinn denied any knowledge of the deceased been sent the ICU before leaving the hospital premises.
