Abena Dapaah’s maids appear in court tomorrow

Former two domestic workers of former minister of Water and Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, would be appearing before an Accra Circuit Court tomorrow.

It would be the third time, the case of the Republic versus the house helps – Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30, and three others is being called at the circuit court.

The three others are Benjamin Sowah, 29 years old and a plumber, Kweku Botwe (Patience father), 65 and a trader, and Malik Dauda (A5), 23 years older.

Although the Attorney-General’s (A-G) Department has called for the docket of the case for advice, it is not clear whether the docket had been returned.

If the obvious becomes the reality, the prosecution might be praying the court, presided over Her Honour Afia Owusuaa Appiah, for an adjournment.

Patience and Sarah are alleged to have conspired and stolen US$1 million, €300,000, GH¢35,000, assorted clothes valued GH¢95,000, handbags, US$35,000, perfumes, US$1,400, and jewelleries, US$95,000, all properties of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who resigned from her post in respect the suit.

Patience alone within the same period stole six pieces of Kente worth GH¢90,000, and six set of men suits valued at US$3,000, which are properties of the former minister’s husband.

All five accused persons have pleaded not guilty and it is only Sarah who has been granted opened bail of GH¢1 million, subject to review.

Patience and invested the money into various projects and investment including purchasing a d building a 3-bedroom house at Amrahia and Budumburam respectively.

Patience went the extra mile to rent GH¢105,600 3-bedroom apartment as well as GH¢120,000 in the Northern regional capital, Tamale.

Cash of US$40,00 and G¢72, 619.70 were retrieved from Patience and her boyfriend Sowah’s apartment by police

While the cost of Sarah building is unknown, Patience allegedly bought hers at at a cost of US$70,000 and furnished it with modern and tier rubber equipment.

She also bought Hyundai Elantra at the cost of GH¢80,000 for her boyfriend Sowah who also sold it to purchase Honda Civic.

Since the suit gained public attention after The Chronicles publication on July 21, a letter believed to written by Madam Cecilia suggests that the police charge sheet and the media publication are in conflict with her complaint to the police.

Meanwhile, the former minister was present at the court when the charge was read to the accused and her husband Daniel Osei Kuffour was equally present when the same amended.

The ayanzia.com also gathered that the form minister had been pursuing the case from the juvenile court before the first accused turned 18 years.
