A-G closes its case but Opuni, others to file submission of no case
It has been more than two years since the trial of the former Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, Stephen Kwabena Opuni and two others commenced, the prosecution had finally closed its case after presenting seven witnesses.
Although the closure serves as an opportunity for the accused persons – Dr Opuni, Seidu Agongo and Adricult Ghana Limited – to open their defence, they have chosen the narrow path to file submission of no case.
The High Court presided over by Justice Clemence Honyenuga yesterday said whereas he has the discretional powers to order that they a case to answer, however, had afford the defence team to use three weeks to file their written submissions in that regard while the prosecution team do same in two weeks’ time.
All these submissions are expected to be filed by April 19 and May 4, respectfully by the defence and the prosecution team.
